Scalable Battery Storage Starting from £3900 fully installed
Start small and expand as your energy needs grow:

  • Base system: 5 kW of battery storage.

  • Expandable: increase in stages up to 15 kW per system.

  • High-capacity option: link (cascade) up to 3 systems together for an impressive total of 45 kW of storage.

How can a smart battery save me money?

Already have solar panels? Save even more on your electricity bills by storing solar energy in a home battery instead of sending it back to the grid, so you can use it whenever you need. With lower feed-in tariffs, this makes even more sense.

No solar? No problem — you can charge the battery overnight on a smart tariff like Octopus Energy or others, taking advantage of cheaper night rates. This gives you low-cost power to use all day and can dramatically cut your electricity bills  even without solar panels!

Generate money ! Some smart tariffs such as Octopus agile now allow you to sell your stored energy back to the grid when prices are high, you can  then fill your battery up again when prices are low - all done automatically saving you £££ !

Have an EV charger? This is even better news as you can now access ultra cheap night time rates as low as 6p per kW! All you need to do is charge your home battery at the same time as your electric vehicle and then power your whole house on the cheap rate during the day!

Keep Your Existing FIT Tariff and Add Battery

Storage

Are you on a high-paying Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and don’t want to risk changing it?
Good news—an EcoFlow battery system can be added without altering your existing solar array or FIT contract.

  • Still earn your FIT payments – You’re paid for every unit of solar electricity you generate, not just what you export.

  • Store your free solar energy – Capture surplus power in the battery and use it later, instead of drawing from the grid.

  • No contract breach – Installation doesn’t require changes to your tariff or solar setup.

Enjoy lower energy bills while keeping the valuable FIT income you already receive.

Home batteries can be installed either indoors, such as in a garage, utility room, or outdoors. Ecoflow smart home batteries are designed for outdoor use come with a weather-resistant rating (usually IP65 or higher), meaning they can withstand rain and dust. However, it’s always best to install them in a sheltered location to protect them from extreme weather and temperature changes. As a qualified installer E-Fix will help assess the best placement for your battery, ensuring it’s safe, well-ventilated, and installed according to manufacturer guidelines for maximum performance and lifespan.

“Connecting a home battery to the UK electricity grid involves following national standards. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.”

⚡ Home Battery Installation – G98 & G99 FAQs

Q: What do “G98” and “G99” mean?
A: They are UK engineering standards that set the rules for connecting generation equipment (like solar panels or home-battery systems) to the electricity grid.

  • G98 covers small systems (up to 16 A per phase – roughly 3.68 kW on a typical single-phase home supply).

  • G99 covers anything larger or more complex.

Q: When does a home battery come under G98?
A: If the total capacity of all the equipment that can export to the grid is ≤ 3.68 kW per phase and it uses certified “type-tested” equipment. Most small domestic battery or solar-plus-battery installs fall here.

Q: What is required for G98?
A: Your installer completes the work, then notifies your local DNO within 28 days using the G98 form. You don’t need pre-approval—just post-installation notification.

Q: When does G99 apply?
A: If the export capacity is greater than 3.68 kW per phase, or if the equipment isn’t type-tested (for example, some larger battery systems or multi-unit arrays).

Q: What is different about G99?
A: You must get DNO approval before installation. The installer submits a G99 application with system details. The DNO checks the local network can safely handle the export and then issues permission before work begins.

Q: What if my battery is set to “zero export”?
A: If the system is permanently export-limited (for example using a G100-compliant limiter), many DNOs allow a simplified G99 or even G98 process. Your installer will provide proof of the limiter and handle the paperwork.

Q: Who handles the paperwork?
A: Your accredited installer—such as an NICEIC contractor—prepares and submits the G98 or G99 documents to the correct DNO (for Derby and Nottingham this is usually  National Grid Midlands).

Q: Why does this matter to me as a homeowner?
A: It ensures your system is safe for you and for the local electricity network, and it protects your right to export power to the grid in future (for example if you add solar panels or sign up for a smart tariff).

Q: Will it delay my installation?
A:

  • G98 – no significant delay; it’s just a post-installation notification.

  • G99 – allow several weeks for DNO approval, depending on their workload and whether any network upgrades are required.

Tip: Choose an installer experienced in both G98 and G99 applications so you don’t have to worry about forms or technical details. Here at E-Fix Electrical we can handle all of this for you!
